Rev. Dr. Genetta Y. Hatcher

Rev. Dr. Genetta Y Hatcher is affectionately called the "Preacher in Blue Jeans” (PIBJ. The focus of her ministry is based on John 21:15-17 where Jesus commissions Peter to feed His sheep. Her greatest passion is feeding God’s peoples. She feels a call to nurture and encourage them into a Christ-centered wholeness. And how else to reach them but in an occasional pair of blue jeans.

Pastor Genetta brings her own unique voice to the preaching moment. She integrates a practical approach to the Gospel which invites the listener to enter the narrative of the sermon. Pastor Genetta is an ecumenical leader and has been privileged to share her ministry gifts across varying denominations.

Under the gracious leadership of Rev Dr. E.L. Branch (now Pastor Emeritus), Pastor Hatcher faithfully served Third New Hope Baptist Church in Detroit for close to 40 years in numerous servant roles. One of the proudest moments was the 9.5 years she spent serving as the Campus Pastor of the West location.

Throughout her vast professional career, Pastor Genetta has been privileged to serve in numerous leadership positions during her tenure at AT&T mainly in the areas of Training, Coaching and Development.  She affectionately refers to her time at AT&T as her “first” pastoral position. Pastor Genetta most recently served as the Seminary Pastor and Vice President of Operations at Ecumenical Theological Seminary (ETS) in Detroit.

Pastor Genetta loves good preaching, good books, good food and traveling with good friends. She also loves being in the company of God’s people from the seniors to the babies. Pastor Genetta works out and take long walks to maintain her health and energy. She loves life and believes that it should be lived fully with excitement and a commitment to honor The Lord in all things.

Pastor Genetta has serious writing skills and prays for the discipline to write her first book in the very near future. Until them she continues to use social media and virtual platforms to encourage and uplift others.

Pastor Genetta is a member of the Council of Baptists Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity where she serves as the co-chair of the economic justice committee. She also serves as the Board Vice-Chair for WomanPreach! Inc. Pastor Hatcher holds a BA from Spring Arbor University (Spring Arbor, MI) with a focus on Management and Organizational Development and both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degree from Ecumenical Theological Seminary.
